Blues/rock duo the Black Keys—guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney—along with three bandmates, are currently on an arena tour around the US in support of their latest full length release Let’s Rock. A highlight of the night came mid-set when Auerbach and Carney were joined by fellow Ohio-bred guitarist and classic rock legend Joe Walsh (James Gang, The Eagles). After welcoming Walsh to the stage, Auerbach told us a sweet story about how the two of them were both inspired to pick up a guitar for the first time after separately seeing their hero Glenn Schwartz play at a local bar in Ohio decades apart. The band then launched into Schwartz-written tune “Water Song,” while Auerbach played the exact guitar Schwartz was playing when he first saw him. They then played Black Keys song “She’s Long Gone” together before Walsh left the stage. Modest Mouse along with Shannon and the Clams kicked off the night.
