Rock n’ Roll Camp For Girls LA Showcase @ The Teragram Ballroom

Empowering girls through music is what Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls LA does and has been doing so for 10 years now! This is a non profit, non discriminatory camp that is truly special. Their showcases have become so big that the first one this year had to be held at The Teragram Ballroom–which was packed. The way these young rock stars are headed, The Forum might be next.

Their goals:

To build self-esteem in girls.
To provide a safe space for risk-taking and creative expression.
To create opportunities in music participation.
To build community among female musicians and their supporters.

Girls ages 8-17 come up with their own band name, write their own song and perform that song in front of friends and family and their supportive sisters with the help of many volunteers.

Dark Alley Dragons, Issue Box, Star Crush, Beyond LA, Poisonous Pizza, Devils from Heaven, Dark Divas, Strawberries Don’t Care, =izer, Angry Pacifists, Toxic Flood, Black Moon, Loud Iguanas and The Dischordz shredded, rocked, captivated, and so many more good adjectives, there isn’t room.

Not only were there bands, the MVPs (Music Video Program) showcased their most excellent music videos in which they operated the cameras, directed and edited everything. Watch out world because Bubbles, Inc., Retro Kale Chips, P.E.A.S. on Earth and Three Truths and a Lie are paving the way for future music videos.

You can catch Showcase No. 2 on July 13th from 1-3 p.m. at The Troubadour.
