Making her hometown proud, Jenny Lewis brought her On The Line tour to a packed Hollywood Palladium last evening. Lewis and her band, which features Jason Crosby and Emily Elbert, made their way through most of her 4th solo album On The Line, including the singles “Red Bull & Hennessy,” “Heads Gonna Roll,” and “Wasted Youth.” She also treated us to older solo favorites like “She’s Not Me,” “Just One of the Guys,” and “The Voyager.” The biggest surprise of the night occurred mid-set when Lewis answered a landline phone call on stage from none other than Jackson Browne, who “happened” to be at the venue for a sit in. Browne joined for a cover of his own “These Days” as well as “Under the Super Moon,” which Lewis wrote in Haiti for a humanitarian project and forthcoming collaborative album Browne organized there. Large balloons were dropped during “Little White Dove” and The Rilo Kiley tune “With Arms Outstretched” closed her main set with the crowd singing loud and proud. The lovely evening ended with the band and some friends singing a capella on “Acid Tongue” with Lewis singing chorus and playing guitar.
