LUNA + BIG MOTHER GIG @ THE MOROCCAN LOUNGE
Photos by Patrick Do
The fog machine was on full blast as Luna took the stage at The Moroccan Lounge to a packed and excited room. Luna started off the set with their special version of The Cure’s “Fire in Cairo” setting off the band’s smooth sound. The set ranged from their first album Lunapark from 1992 to last year’s releases, a full album of eclectic covers A Sentimental Education and an all-instrumental EP, A Place Of Greater Safety. Screams for “Bonnie & Clyde” were heard for the encore and it was played beautifully, leaving no fan disappointed. The evening ended with a cover of “Tugboat,” singer/guitarist Dean Wareham’s first love Galaxie 500.
Big Mother Gig opened up the night playing songs from their new EP Almost Primed.
