THE GARDEN + THE MUFFS + JESSIE JONES + THE GAP DREAM + VAJJ @ THE GETTY CENTER
The Getty Center had no idea what was about to happen as Burger Records took over the quiet, elegant and serene outdoor area with five bands staggering from the main concourse to the garden area downstairs.
No sooner had The Garden brothers Wyatt and Fletcher Shears hit the stage, that the area became a circle pit as young fans immediately pushed the barricade that was held with a few sandbags. The in-shape security team rushed in to hold excited fans back.
The Garden tricksters and their vada vada ways have evolved once again. Gone are the drums and guitar as the guys worked the stage, sported a joker-style look as fans shouted words to every song, including “Cloak” and “I’ll Guess We’ll Never Know” from 2015’s Ha Ha. Unfortunately, as soon as a stage diver almost hit pavement and The Garden dove in after him, security stopped the show.
Celebrating 25 years together as one of LA’s finest punk bands, The Muffs stirred up the crowd. Kim Shattuck, Ronnie Barnett and Roy McDonald were quite the live exhibit and definitely gathered some new young fans.
Gap Dream was the first to play the main stage as the sun was about to set in the smokey orange sky.
