ROB ZOMBIE @ THE ROXY
The marquee at The Roxy read “Rob Zombie – One Night Only” and it was almost impossible to believe that Rob Zombie would actually be playing such a small venue. Fans were lined up early in the day and knew how lucky there were to be there.
When Rob Zombie and his colorful cohorts that included bassist Piggy D, drummer Ginger Fish and guitarist John 5 took the stage, they launched right into White Zombie’s “More Human Than Human” sending the crowd into a frenzy. Zombie asked everyone to put their phones away (just for 5 minutes) to have some fun, but they couldn’t decide between holding their phones up or rocking out. The ones that rocked out definitely had the most fun and a few made it onto the stage. Before playing White Zombie’s “Thunder Kiss ‘65,” Zombie reflected by saying “The first time we played this song in L.A. was at the Whiskey and no one cared about us and the other band that was playing with us, called Tool.”
A very special appearance by Misfits former frontman Glenn Danzig was made as he joined the band for a cover of the Misfits track “Vampira.” This was sort of a rehearsal for what is to come as The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser comes out April 29.
