CAGE THE ELEPHANT @ THE EL REY THEATRE

What a difference an all ages show makes. The last time Cage the Elephant played The El Rey Theatre on Halloween weekend, it was 21+. The crowd was great, but not nearly as intense and devoted to the band as it was last night for Alt 98.7 Presents ALTimage December 2 Remember with Cage the Elephant.
Anyone who has been to a Cage show knows that lead vocalist Matthew Shultz will dive into the crowd at least three times. He connects with the crowd the entire time, looking into their eyes and singing with them and yet still spazzes out. His brother Brad on rhythm guitar does his fair share of crowd loving too. The guys who remained on stage, but certainly not still were Jared Champion (drums/percussion), Daniel Tichenor (bass guitar/backing vox), Matthan Minster (keyboards/guitar/backing vox), and Nick Bockrath (lead guitar).
Cage is one strong unit who played many favorites like “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked,” “Shake Me Down,” “Come a Little Closer,” and “Back Against the Wall.” As many know by now, their new album Tell Me I’m Pretty is produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and his influence is definitely there. It will be officially released December 19th. “Mess Around,” Cry Baby,” and “Trouble” were all played.
The crowd wanted more, but alas they had to leave the stage. Until next year. And please let all Cage the Elephant shows be for all ages.
