KAMASI WASHINGTON @ CLUB NOKIA THEATRE

Music lovers in attendance at Club Nokia all were wondering why there was a beautiful chair at center stage. Who was this king about to take the throne? It did look very comfortable. Well, it was the throne for the evening for Kamasi Washington as he was on crutches. It’s a little hard to play sax on crutches. Washington immediately told us the wonderful story of how he jumped from a plane. There was a baby and a rabbit involved. We’re sticking with this story.
Washington had the stage filled with extraordinary musicians, including the insanely talented The West Coast Get Down, his father Rickey Washington, and string and choir conductor Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. Everyone on stage was truly gifted. With two sets and three hours of jazz-filled dreams, including mind-blowing solos and songs from The Epic, it was truly an evening of spirit lifting.
