There was no doubt the El Rey Theatre would be packed so we could hear the reunited Veruca Salt once again. There was much love in the crowd for Louise Post (guitar/vox), Nina Gordon (guitar/vox), Jim Shapiro (drums), and Steve Lack (bass). Their latest album Ghost Notes is packed with rocking tunes and heartfelt moments and we were lucky to hear quite a bit of it live along with some favorites.

The Muffs was a perfect band to get things going. Kim Shattuck belted out tunes from 2014’s Whoop Dee Doo with Roy McDonald catching sticks like the pro that he is and Ronnie Barnett being his smooth self on bass.

Another local band Talk in Tongues has a debut album Alone With a Friend out and started everything off with some really beautiful sounds.
