The love for Death Cab for Cutie from the filled-to-capacity crowd at Amoeba Music was palpable as the beloved Seattle band performed a handful of new songs from their eighth studio album Kintsugi (out now on Atlantic Records). Amoeba employees did their best to fill in every nook and cranny with fans for the intimate-ish performance, but still the sidewalk out front was packed with hopefuls. Songs like “No Room in Frame” and “The Ghosts of Beverly Drive” harken back to early DCFC tunes. While it was sad news to hear that long-time member Chris Walla would depart from the band last year, new touring members Dave Depper (guitar/keys) and Zac Rae (keyboards) proved themselves as more than proficient at filling in Walla’s parts. To round out the set, DCFC tacked on an old favorite “The New Year.”
