“If it means something to you, it means a hell of a lot to us!” Ten years after the release of the band’s iconic post-hardcore album The Ugly Organ, Cursive are celebrating with a string of tour dates to play the album in its entirety. Pomona welcomed the Nebraskans with open arms. Over the past ten years, it was clear that fans never stopped listening, still belting out every lyric throughout the show. Tim Kasher (guitar/vox) and as his exaggerated expressions and gestures radiated all the way to the back of the crowd.
Philadelphia’s Beach Slang brought out big fuzzy guitars and James Alex’s strained-in-all-the-right-ways voice. Held together by sweet melodies and driving rhythms, the band has a very nostalgic feel about them. Alex chose to forego fine tuning his guitar on the last couple tunes, stating “the day rock ’n’ roll gets perfect, I’m fucking gone!”

Starting the night on a slightly brighter, sweeter note was Nebraska’s Twinsmith. Saddle Creek label mates with Cursive, the four-piece is a prime example of the label’s willingness to adapt to new music coming from Omaha.
