Pink and white heart-shaped balloons decorated the Roxy stage like a 1950’s high school dance. Four giant silver balloons spelled out “PAPA.” Darren Weiss, taking his seat at the drums and belting out tunes, wore a black leather jacket remininscent of a member of the T-Birds in Grease. It was quite appropriate to wind up their Romantic Getaway Tour: An Evening of Music for Lovers and Loners on Valentine’s Day. The first 100 people received a special button from the band. Weiss dedicated songs to the ladies. He jumped out from behind his kit to serenade people in the crowd and took time to high-five the entire front row of the packed venue. Highlights of the set came with a duet of “Natural Woman” and their track “I Am The Lion King.” PAPA is working on their new album scheduled for release later this year.
LA’s Harriet started the festivities with their catchy tunes that were eaten up like yummy chocolates by the mostly female crowd.
