THE ENTRANCE BAND + LA LUZ @ THE OBSERVATORY
Photos and words by Clay Rasmussen
The mood changed at The Observatory the second The Entrance Band took the stage. From surf vibes to thrashing psychedelic rock, they played loud and unabashed. And it was fantastic. Guy Blakeslee playing his guitar completely upside-down – throwing himself all over the stage – beating his guitar to death. Taking a break from The Pixies, talented Paz Lenchantin held down the heavy bass grooves. Check out the film she did for “Spider” below. The set was gritty and far from a polished sound, making it all the more prominent.
Seattle based, all-girl band, La Luz, brought their surfy twang influence to the venue early. You can’t help but love how cool and confident each member is up on stage. Down to the core of the groups sound, to the vocal performance of Shana Cleveland, this was homegrown, Cascadian goodness. This was La Luz’s second performance at the Observatory within a month and a half and we want more.
