Day 2 (Friday) of Bonnaroo might have been more accurately described for most attendees as “MACCAROO,” an apt phrasing flying high on one homemade fan banner. Tens of thousands flocked to the 70-year-old Beatle’s 38-song performance on the enormous What Stage to witness enough fireworks, pyro and top-notch Beatles jams (25 total) to fill at least two stadiums.
Still, though the euphoria of that iconic headliner will be difficult to trump (even for Sunday’s super sharp and equally legendary fest closers, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), there were myriad other artists who impressed mightily across Friday’s overall stellar lineup.
Check out a few of the day’s choice acts in the galleries below: ZZ Top, Wu-Tang Clan, Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Amadou & Mariam, DIIV and Local Natives.
