It’s been about ten years since Tomahawk played LA and the Mayan Theatre was the appropriate choice of venue for their latest Oddfellows. After enduring the endless Tomahawk Chop Song, the band took the stage and it was finally on. Sporting his Lakers’ shirt was frontman Mike Patton, back in action and in constant motion. With Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard) on guitar, John Stanier (Helmut/Battles) drumming and Patton’s hometown warrior Trevor Dunn on bass, the experimental group showcased its strengths with Patton’s vocal range on display. Faith No More may be gone, but the talent that is Mike Patton lives on.
