VIDEO PREMIERE: LITRONIX “FOR ALL THE SPECIAL SOULS”

Last year Kevin Litrow and his solo persona Litronix put out Elvis Lives, an album that was something between a recalibration and a reinvention. Recorded by the esteemed producer Greg Ashley, Elvis Lives saw Litrow dial down his signature throbbing Suicide-style synthesizer and motorik robo-rhythms to explore something more traditionally transcendental: guitar and human voice, channeling the full force of the human spirit.

It’s something of a 21st century folk record, where nature is still there but you can hear the technological society beeping and hissing somewhere beyond the treeline. And philosophically it’s Litronix in concentrated form—especially “For All The Special Souls,” a celebration of / dedication to humanity’s capacity to overcome suffering. This video by Litrow and editor Dylan Rettenberger literalizes the best and worst of recent history: “A real prayer and acknowledgement for the human experience under oppression and still transcending and thriving through it,” says Litrow. Elvis Lives is available digitally here and hits cassette in July, and Litrow will be teleperforming on Los Angeleno‘s Instagram here on Friday May 8.
