“Fav” is the second single and smoldering lead track on this summer’s Damani3 EP on Apollo Records, a visceral and soulful experiment by L.A. RECORD cover alum Eddington Again that reassembles pop and R&B from the frames up. This video by Kellen Maloy, Miss Inglewood, producer YERSELF and Eddington turns Chinatown’s Human Resources into a waking dreamstate: magical purple light and layers and layers of imagery, from between the sheets to up on the screen. (Kinda covers it all, doesn’t it?) You might recognize plenty of local notables in cameos, including L.A. RECORD contributor Tolliver and L.A. RECORD alum Duderella, too. But it’s Eddington Again himself at the center and the edges both, which isn’t surprising for someone with such omnipresent presence. When you can’t see him, you’ll still hear him, calling you a little closer with each cycle through the understated chorus: “Sorry that it took me so long to sing your favorite song.” Says Eddington:

“‘Fav’ is a chill yet complex collaboration with my good friend Kellen Malloy with the help of my sister Beatriz Moreno. Beauty was the direction, raw truth was the destination. We casted Jordi, Asphodele, Tolliver, Daniel from Duderella, Liam Casey and Enrique of Hunger City who are all really brilliant soulful creatives I respect and love. Shot at Human Resources, a major hub/pillar in our community out of L.A.”

Eddington also sends us this bonus track: a Bapari remix of Damani3‘s debut single “Sweet,” that turns it from a ballad into a burner. Bapari is a scorching DJ and producer as well as part of the mighty FUPU crew, and their version of “Sweet” puts new energy underneath Eddington’s emotionally supercharged delivery:
