VIDEO PREMIERE: KOOL CUSTOMER “BLACKBERRY”
If you are an L.A.-area musician who would like to submit unreleased songs or videos of any genre for premiere, email a stream or download link to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kool Customer is the all-in-on-the-funk duo of L.A. producer B. Bravo and Bay Area vocalist Rojai, and their “Blackberry”—available on Kool Customer’s debut LP and as a special white-vinyl 7″—is an instant hit about the complicated logistics that come with crushing on someone. Now they’ve got this brand new video (directed by Marc Anderson with director of photography Damian Lucas and editor Joseph Buckley Campbell) that’s practically glowing with a pink-and-blue 80s-pop-style aesthetic and an irrepressible charisma. Naturally, it was as fun to make as it is to watch. Says director Anderson:
“Anytime I get to work with B. Bravo or Rojai it’s exciting, but to have them both together on one set is the best. They make it fun to go to work and this video was no different. We shot this video over two days earlier this year in San Francisco and it was like a family reunion behind the scenes.”
And as the Customers add: “We wanted the ‘Blackberry’ video to put an instant smile on your face and make you bounce your shoulders with a quarter note toe tap on the good foot! Shout out to the dancers who killed it!”
