TRACK PREMIERE: SPACE BABIES “FREE EXPRESSION”

July 11th, 2018 | Listen

Space Babies is cosmic Venice duo Rebecca and Michael Vest (with extraterrestial assistance from good ol’ Dave Scher and John X Volaitis) and they’re about to release the ambitiously experimental The Space Babies Show: A Song in a Day, which documents the ups, downs and inside-outs of their writing and recording process. Here’s a very representative example: “Free Expression,” a song that works hard to do the concept justice and naturally ends up sounding like something from the uncharted sectors between Planet Devo and Planet Bruce Haack. (Fun fact: this song was inspired by a Malala Yousafzai speech!) They’ll be playing the record release show tonight for the Blank Tapes’ Candyreviewed here—with L.A. RECORD featurees Litronix and Bloody Death Skull, which includes L.A. RECORD‘s Daiana Feuer. Tickets and more info here!
