Please note: L.A. RECORD is directly focused on interviews and reviews of music connected to Los Angeles. We currently do not run personal essays, articles, trend pieces, lists, etc., and we rarely if ever accept pitches of completed stories—we prefer to work with writers on generating new pieces that fit with our needs. (Exceptions may be made for subjects of interest to Los Angeles readers or archival pieces.) But if you are interested in discussing album reviews or interviews or doing illustrations or shooting portraits or live photos, please get in touch!

ALBUM REVIEWS: L.A. RECORD strongly encourages vinyl submissions for review and accepts all physical formats. We review any genre and kind of music and especially try to support local L.A.-area musicians and labels. To maximize your chances of review, try to send in your music between 2 – 3 months before the official release date. If you are sending a digital version, do NOT send us mp3s or .wav files as attachments. Instead, send a streaming link and a download link to at fortherecord@larecord.com with subject line “FOR REVIEW,” and tell us a little bit about yourselves or, if you have one, include your bio and a link to your website or social media page.
