Featuring ex-Rocket from the Crypt and Hot Snakes drummer Mario Rubalcaba, Earthless is easily the most bong-rattling band you have ever heard. Their first record, 2005’s Sonic Prayer, consists of two songs, each over the twenty-minute mark. Live renditions can stretch out close to an hour. The self-proclaimed Japanese-psychedelic-heavy-Kraut-rock-band has a strange kinetic energy between them, with Rubalcaba pounding out heavy-as-hell beats while bassist Mike Eginton and guitarist Isaiah Mitchell push their stringed instruments to the limit. To see them lock-in and push the song to the next level is amazing as it’s usually done with a subtle look or nod, then phewwwwwwwww, the song is then stretched out like a ten-year-old pair of underwear. More amazing is that after sitting and listening to their songs stretch on for 20, 30 or 40 minutes, you don’t want them to end. Be ready to rock.
