The story I’ve heard behind Very Be Careful’s name is that they were being dropped off by a father of a band member at a party when he warned them ‘very be careful tonight!’ thinking he was speaking perfect English. The story involves a party and Spanglish, so I was pretty into the band before I had even heard their music. My mother pretty constantly substitutes English with hand gestures and saying, ‘You know! The chingathera!’ After I heard the music and found out they were playing at a bar called the Bordello, I realized that this is going to be a crazy show. I found pictures of them online touring Japan. It’s pretty cool that this sort of cumbia punk band from L.A. can pack up the accordions and rock the house across Pacific. Very Be Careful is already well-known and respected as one of the most reliable great times in the city, and with a flyer that also says that this show will be going on until 2 AM, it’s almost guaranteed to be completely raging.
