FRIDAY, AUGUST 31:

For those of you tired of reading about shows you’re too young to go to, don’t miss the Rolling Blackouts and Sonadora show this Saturday at Famima!! in Torrance. Maybe some of you haven’t heard about the Famima!!s popping up throughout the Los Angeles area, and this show would be a perfect opportunity to see why everyone loves them—it’s like a 7-11 if you could get shrimp instead of hot dogs. Enough about that, though—the music is what’s really important. Sonadora will be the opening act, but will not be a full band. Singer/guitarist Kevin Morales will be playing his songs with his usual bass player, Gabe Garnica, tonight playing second guitar, and they’ll be playing without drums—Sonadora unplugged, if you will. Closing the night will be local favorites the Rolling Blackouts, who were on the very first L.A. RECORD cover, and who will definitely be playing some of their new songs, as well as the classics that have made you dance for years. Expect a new skip in singer Danny Holden’s step because of his marriage early this month, but guitarist Jarrod Stiles and bass player Mike Peralta will keep him in line. Drummer Gabe Garnica—yes, bassist of Sonadora—will be doing double duty, but don’t expect this to affect his Keith Moon-like ability. Be sure to come to the show early because it starts promptly at 6 and will end promptly at 10. If you’re late, you miss it. But you could always catch bowling after the show—it’s right next door, and everyone else will be there, singing karaoke. (KO)
