If you’ve seen the decadent music videos Hard Place dishes out, then you know not to miss their live show. Often performing as a keyboard/guitar duo, frontpersons Ashley Huizenga and Freddy Christy know how to put on a spectacle of sight and sound. However, this show will be even more spectacular, as the full band will be performing—Tom Marzella on drums and Elisha Drones on bass. Hard Place’s fusion of ‘80s new wave with metal riffs and sultry crooning could be compared to Human League, Sparks, Iron Maiden and Sade, and with their frequent use of fake blood, perhaps even L.A. RECORD alum A.W.K. Decked out in super sexy and always elaborate spandex costumes and make-up, Hard Place delivers a theatrical performance of aural and visual stimulation. Huizenga always manages to shock and seduce the crowd with her dynamic presence and playful antics—like Debbie Harry gone performance artist. Let’s just say a recent show involved pies, whipped cream, and lots of writhing and wrestling. (BINX)
