FRIDAY, APRIL 6: Say it: “Global warming.” Because in 100 years Al Gore won’t be around to around to say it for you. Tonight at the National History Museum, speakers Hope Tschopik Schneider, Margaret Wertheim, and Michelle Wyman discuss what these drastic weather changes really mean today and for the future, centering closely on California and the L.A. Ecosystem. Following them will be performances by Plaid—Andy Turner and Ed Handley, the experimental British IDM duo (think Squarepusher and Aphex Twins)—and the Submarines, quirky acoustic-musicians-turned-lovers-turned-musicians-again John Dragonetti and Blake Howard from Boston. “The planet has a fever,” Gore once told Congress. “If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor.” If I were him, I would have ditched the movie altogether for the Natural History Museum, which definitely seems on-point in its musical choices.
