WEDNESDAY, APRIL 4: Look Daggers is the brainchild of 2Mex and Ikey Owens, a musical adventure adeptly blending elements of electro, rap, jazz, Latin beats and hip-hop—and ohmygod is it amazing. Ikey dazzles with his ease of transition between a seemingly limitless array of musical styles: jazz, then electro, then Latin, then something that’s not particularly describable but definitely sounds good. Meanwhile, 2Mex slaps Latin influences and effortless rhymes atop it all, leaving you moving to the rhythm while trying to listen intently, appreciating how all of these diverse elements come together. Their first album, Suffer in Style, is out on Up Above records, and is worth bumping immediately—if not sooner. This is a must see. (KB)
