I arrived particularly early to the party expecting to give Santa a quick lap dance, drop off some gifts, make a donation, then high tail it out of there in time to search for a company Christmas party to crash, but that didn’t quite end up happening. The night started off with a set from Underground Railroad To Candy—pulling double duty with another show down at Echo Curio the same night. The set was short but they still managed to pack in all the hits as kids in Christmas pajamas danced. I swear to God I could hear “Suey” a thousand times in a row and not get sick of it. Next: the luscious sounds of Blank Blue. It’s been a long time since a band knocked my socks off. Blank Blue might as well have blasted them off with a leaf blower. I drank a couple of beers then got sidetracked, sent off a few drunken text messages about how awesome Blank Blue were, and sauntered outside for a quick catch up with Boom Bip, DJing that evening, and then reminisced about past Christmases. I would have stayed for Entrance’s set—I hear it was fabulous—but had to leave. I had a date with a blue blood in a bathroom stall. But L.A. RECORD and F Yeah Fest’s Christmas soiree was an adorable prelude.
