Seeing Afrika Bambaataa is like seeing Abe Lincoln speak at Disneyland—it’s just something you have to do. We are talking about one of the founding fathers of the Zulu Nation and hip-hop, dating back to the South Bronx block parties where the electricity came illegally from street lamps and the fans came to watch because the music and culture was raw, young and real. Bambaataa would go on to lead the first hip-hop tour of Europe and share a record with Johnny Rotten (as well as James Brown) and basically carve out a planet of his own from the history of American music. This show and Busy Bee’s upcoming appearance at Urban Underground give L.A. locals a rare chance to visit with the originators.

I’m going to see Bambaataa tonight to review and I actually fucking can not believe that this is happening to me in my life. I won’t believe it until he hits the stage, and at that point I might just scream like a girlie Beatles fan. I don’t know.

Charlie, amazingly perfect writeup. Couldn’t have said it better myself;)

THIS TRACK IS SO FUCKING AMAZING JESUS. I can’t get enough of it. FUCKING GENIUS.
