Thank you Jack White, if for nothing else, than for realizing that great talent doesn’t need to fade with the times. Wanda deserves to be onstage, packing out the El Rey, showing young grasshoppers how it’s done.

She dated Elvis and is now on stage with White Stripes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather frontman and multi-talented Jack White. How lucky can one woman get? Legendary Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson doesn’t just sound good “for her age,” she is just good. Finally receiving more credit where credit is due, White has brought this lovely lady back [...]
WANDA JACKSON: SINGING IS MY GOLF GAME
January 23rd, 2011 · No Comments
Any girl that’s ever rebelled should know Wanda Jackson. In the 1950s, this Fujiyama Mama strutted out onto the country scene wearing tight fringe dresses, hair dyed black, and with a rocking growl, arrived at the party in Elvis’s pink Cadillac. While she’s finally in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, young folks have probably never heard her on the radio. ROSIE FLORES: THEN YOU CAN KILL ME
August 26th, 2009 · 1 Comment
We caught Rosie Flores playing an air show. With planes whizzing overhead, the guitarista has her two feet on the ground, strumming the strings in the inimitably passionate style that got a day dedicated to her in Austin. Everyday can’t be ‘Rosie Flores Day,’ but if you have a few thousand dollars to spare, she can put out Janis Martin’s last album! This interview by Daiana Feuer.
