I loved this song when it came out as an album track on their debut record in 2008. Now Eddie Chacon and his collaborator (and wife) Sissy Sainte-Marie have re-released the tune as a single, which they’re promoting via a new bad-assed video:

It’ll also come out on the upcoming Polyamorous Affair album, The Future Isn’t What It Used to Be, produced by Best Coast-er and all-around babe bewitcher Bobb Bruno. Keep your eyes peeled.

Upon waking up this morning, the video communication broadcast device turns itself on to deliver an important state of the union address from new world leader, The Child. At first, the bright lights and exacting shoulder blades strike a mix of fear and desire in one’s heart, a feeling that doesn’t diminish as more shapes and severe silhouettes beam messages into your eyeballs between flashes of stark optical illusions and girl on girl grabby action. Those poppy drums around the 50 second mark soothe your morning panic and enable you to forget that the sun don’t shine no more, it’s been replaced by high energy fluorescence, as the world is a dark room and we must dance, dance, dance to the electric rock and edgy roll music, on our knees before the queen. This video transmission, created by director Rich Ragsdale, delivers that cup of coffee comfort that forms the foundation of our post apocalypse collective.

This song isn’t new. But we’ve never posted it before and why not now??? Close-up on the pores and unkempt face hairs and teeth of a guy singing a garage rock song, drinking from a bottle, maybe about to leak blood from his lips, maybe not. It’s a natural song with a natural face. The recording of this catchy tune is much cleaner than the protagonist’s underwear, dontchabet? And can’t you imagine the springs sticking out of this song’s couch? It’s charming, Shirley Rolls.

Warning, this video is N.S.F.LUNCH. Unless watching people chew with their mouths open makes you happy—as demonstrated by Doña Nicha, this two brother + 1 cousin +1 neighbor family band grown in Southern California. “Sandwishes” is two swishy guitars and a swoony melody of swirled together words that guide us through a minute and a half long wash of noisy shoe material. The video created by The Great Nordic Swordfights makes eating yucky things a metaphor for love. The family that eats together, and spits on each other, gets its faces melted off together.

VIDEO: MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY AT MOCA

Earlier this week we rallied Manhattan Murder Mystery to take advantage of the publicly available instruments in the brothers Os Gemeos’ installation and rock out the Art in the Streets exhibit at the MOCA Geffen Contemporary, downtown. Below you’ll find video taken by Amy Darling of them playing “Parking Lot.” The exhibit is free every Monday thanks to Banksy, and every Thursday from 5-8 as well. We’d love to see more people do the same. You have until the exhibit closes on August 8th (be warned—the instruments may be out of tune and there is no mic). Visit www.moca.org for hours and info.
