Pairing three great garage bands who should play together ALL THE TIME turned out to be as great in practice as it was in theory. This FYF outing paired So-Cal heroes Tijuana Panthers and Audacity with S.F. sunshine pop darling Ty Segall at Eagle Rock’s historic-library-turned-concert-venue Eagle Rock Center for the Arts.

A dusty Jeep full of people (and all sorts of stuff) rolled up and a wide eyed hippie type girl with sun baked crimped long hair leaned out the window, “Is this the Growlers show?” When we told her yes her face lit up like she had just reached the holy land after traveling 100 miles through a parched desert.

TJPs’ music is so steeped in Coppertone and 4 foot lefts that, at one point, I could of sworn I had sand between my toes. If they were a surf spot they would be Trestles, not Rincon, but who cares?
