I loved this song when it came out as an album track on their debut record in 2008. Now Eddie Chacon and his collaborator (and wife) Sissy Sainte-Marie have re-released the tune as a single, which they’re promoting via a new bad-assed video:

Silverlake, 2008 moved to the El Rey Theatre for a night and they brought visuals with them for the Tar Fest. The three bands on the lineup all showed that they not only are up to the challenge of performing at the larger venues, they also know how to make use of the additional space, sight and sound.

Songs like “Push Your Fashion To The Limit” and an inspired cover of Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love” are perfect for the dance floor or for cozying up to sexy Russian double-agent babes while sipping 16 oz. vodkas. The production—as provided by Eddie Chacon—is meticulous and the shared vocals by Chacon and Sissy Sainte-Marie are campy fun without distracting from the party. Their live shows tend to rely on video backdrops but Bolshevik Disco definitely stands on its songs. I like it a lot better than last year’s electronic bubblegum poop by MGMT—which received so much airplay, it could almost be considered propaganda.

Dan Collins (who interviewed Polyamorous Affair here) will be DJing their show (also featuring Blue Jungle) tonight at the Echoplex and Chris Ziegler (who interviewed Magic Lantern and Imaad Wasif) will be DJing their show tonight at the Prospector. Will Roky Erickson records be present at both? Statistically likely. More info on both events here [...]

The Polyamorous Affair make bolshevik disco-pop in a mossy compound in Los Feliz and emerge only to teach kindergarten, play shows or get snowed on. They have an album due on Manimal and co-founder Eddie Chacon used to be in a band with Cliff Burton. This interview by Dan Collins.
