Hootenanny 2011 brought the heat on stage and off this past weekend. The annual festival is held in Oak Canyon, just east or Irvine. Seattle bands Murder City Devils and Constant Lovers came through town last week with stops at the Glasshouse and the freshly renovated Henry Fonda Theater. The two band bill seems a rarity these days, especially in this city. The crowd at the Fonda seemed almost non existant during Constant Lovers with room to walk to the barricade during their set. Everyone must have decided not to show up until MCD took the stage because by the end of the first song you couldn’t move through the place. This is their second tour since reforming last year and there may be more with rumors of new material on the way.
