HAPPY MONDAYS: SEE, WE’RE GROUND BREAKING!
September 17th, 2009 · No Comments
Happy Mondays were the actual 24 hour party people and legendarily—but perhaps not really, says drummer Gaz here—helped bankrupt Factory Records. They have been banned from Disneyland and the BBC and speak now despite mea culpas about being boring. This interview by Dan Collins.
DAWN SILVA: UNTIL FUNK DO YOU PART
August 30th, 2009 · 7 Comments
If the politicos occupying Chocolate City ever get around to building a monument on the mall to good ol’ American rhythm ‘n’ blues funk rock, Dawn Silva’s name needs to be etched in bold print. We talked about lots of funky stuff… from the plot against the funk, true funk, better living through funk and a grip of her music that should be put out now but for some senseless reason isn’t. Interview by Kurt Midness.
THE DUKE SPIRIT: EYE VONT TO FACK YOU
July 13th, 2009 · 1 Comment
The Duke Spirit are now and will forever be the only band both to cover Alex Chilton and open for Incubus at the Hollywood Bowl. This interview by Dan Collins.

He is working on his new album and still claims to be nervous before shows—especially if he’s playing at the Hollywood Bowl. He will play the Hollywood Bowl this Wednesday. This interview by Ayse Arf.

May 27th, 2009 · No Comments
It’s nice, easy, and recommended for all folks to zone out with Cave’s 30-minute jams. This interview by Daiana Feuer.

Our artists Joe and Luke McGarry also lead the band Pop Noir (as well as doing illustrations for other L.A. mags) and tomorrow they will be having a special McGarry-trospective at Costa Mesa’s eVocal gallery, where a selection of their work will be on display as they (and Repeater and Smokin’ Mirrors) perform.
