While it was great to see so many new faces, I have to admit relief at the sight of all of the regulars in the crowd, the people who week after week return to Pehrspace loyally on Monday nights for the eclectic and exciting programming that is Sean Carnage Mondays. The “TGIMers.” Even self-appointed announcer Karen Centerfold managed her way in somehow, but tonight Val Kilmer was the guest host, interacting with DJ Kyle Mabson’s mix of television themes and Tim Allen grunt samples.

This Thursday, August 4th, the team behind Concertpage, Sean Carnage and Sam Lubicz, along with Liam Morrison and Nika Kolodziej will be presenting three weeks of art, video, and performances at Sancho Gallery on Sunset. I caught up with them at Sancho Gallery as they prepared to mount the show, and over an afternoon we discoursed over queer imagery, secret philosophies, and a friendship rooted in sperm. FOLKTALE FEST II @ PEHRSPACE

The 2nd annual Folktale Fest, and the triumphant return of Sean Carnage Monday nights at Pehrspace after a very brief hiatus, made for a packed crowd on a warm summer night. As I entered I found Sacramento performance artist/musician Mom dancing away, half-clothed and squeaking in a cutesy pitch-modified falsetto to novelty type music in a classic Mouseketeer hat.
KYLE MABSON'S BIRTHDAY @ PEHRSPACE
February 5th, 2010 · No Comments
On Monday, Sean hosted a birthday rager for Kyle Mabson, his roommate and the official party engine of Pehrspace. A double-sized crowd appeared to celebrate Kyle’s special day and check out a solid-from-top-to-bottom lineup of performers that was headlined by Abe Vigoda. Sure, there were still people in the parking lot—but that’s only because the venue was too sweaty and insane for their sensibilities.
MICHAEL VIDAL @ WILDNESS

Michael Vidal had the whole room ready and waiting to ingest whatever he was cooking up. It was packed, everybody had been dancing for hours to incredible DJ sets by Kyle Mabson and Total Freedom. The crowd’s energy was feverish, and it was time for Michael to own that shit—and he did—for about 6 minutes.
