BEAK> is a Dogme 95 band made up of Bristol musicians Billy Fuller, Matt Williams and Portishead’s Geoff Barrow. They took time before their last stateside show to lament the disappearance of British independent music stores and express their disdain for rock’n’roll shows. When he isn’t performing with BEAK>, Geoff Barrow runs Invada records. This interview by Kristina Benson.

CHICANO BATMAN: CHICANO BATMAN
September 10th, 2010 · No Comments
Chicano Batman’s debut record draws influences from some of South and Central America’s greatest musicians. While tunes like “Día Do Sol” and “Lembrancinha” evoke the smooth artistry of the Tropicalismo movement’s Caetano Veloso, the one-two tempo and one-and-five basslines of “La Manzanita” are reminiscent of Los Tigres del Norte-style Norteño, complete with gritos méxicanos and an organ-turned-accordion.
