This was a show that wasn’t polluted by hipster elitists clashing with and disapproving of less stylish kids shaking it for all they’re worth. The audience was as diverse as the band: gypsies, wanna-be gypsies (easy to spot the difference: one’s in a belly dancing costume, the other’s in spandex leopard print), androgynous Indian girls, Israelis, an influx of Europeans from couchsurfers.com. And everyone is dancing with reckless abandon—their own interpretation of some ancient European folk dance—as Balkan Beat Box energetically run through a set largely consisting of songs from their eponymous album.
