BOB DYLAN + JOHN DOE @ HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM
October 15th, 2009 · No Comments
The mood of the music reveals Dylan as he is now and the lazy grooves are perfect for a man who no doubt has had some time to reflect, but has not lost his sense of fun or caustic wit. “Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum” is an example of a tune with this swing and bite. I was warned that Dylan no longer plays guitar on stage. Finally seeing Dylan and he won’t pick-up a guitar? Blasphemy!
NIN @ THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM

When “Piggy” was played directly after “Mr. Self Destruct,” I pondered to myself—could this really be happening? Are they going to play the Downward Spiral in its entirety? Sure enough, they did. All fourteen tracks from the album were played from start to finish. For someone like me who became a fan due to this album, it was a surreal experience to witness it live.
DEADMAU5 @ THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM

Eclectic tutued and tattooed teens, people in sparkly bikinis, tails, whisker painted faces, and 12-inch sole, stilt-esque boots swarmed the Hollywood Palladium to see Deadmau5 perform. In the first two hours, while the crowd thickened and peeled off their fabric layers, the Palladium was the site for a dance party, simply put, a “Rave,” reminiscent of the late ninetees. People with latex glove glowing fingertips bounced around and moved their hands in front of other mesmerized people who were sitting legs crossed in the middle of the oval dance floor. Out in the hall near one of the four bars, I heard a female security guard ask an off balanced male propped against the wall why he was sucking on a pacifier. He responded, “I’m rolling. Get with the fucking times, lady.”
