The weather couldn’t have been more perfect this Fourth of July weekend in Ventura. Arguably the best stop on the summer outting, the temperature never rose above 78 degrees. Attendance seemed as high as ever for the long running tour. Highlights of the day included Enter Shikari, Larry and his Flask, Lucero, Bad Rabbits, Sharks Street Dogs, The Aggrolites, 3oh!3, and Against Me. Photos from July 3, 2011 by Carlton Beener.

Silversun Pickups wrapped up their national tour with tour mates Against Me and Los Angeles locals The Henry Clay People in August at the Greek Theatre. The enthusiastic crowd responded warmly to recent tunes off Silvserun Pickups’ lastest release Swoon as well as older songs.

Phoenix and Dave Matthews Band ruled Sunday at Bonnaroo as the festival’s final day came to an end, drawing huge crowds to their respective stages. Dave Matthews Band closed out the festival with a subdued cover of Neil Young’s “The Needle and The Damage Done” and a blistering cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower.” Pictured here are: Against Me!, Calexico, Dave Matthews Band, Ingrid Michaelson, Japandroids, John Fogerty, Phoenix, Regina Spektor, and Ween.

Just in case there wasn’t already enough reason to support this effort:

We just added Band Of Horses and Sea Wolf to the bill that already includes Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Shirley Manson, Tom Gabel (Against Me!), Jarrod Gorbel (The Honorary Title), Charlotte Martin, Butch Walker and Songs for Kids. They will all be playing acoustic and semi-acoustic sets to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and treatment.

The evening will be dedicated to celebrating the triumphant return of Jeff Castelaz, co-founder of Dangerbird Records, who is currently pedaling his way across the country on a bicycle in order to raise awareness and funds for the Pablove Foundation. Castelaz’s pilgrimage is deeply rooted: he’s riding in honor and remembrance of his 6-year old son, Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz, whose individual fight with cancer ended June 27, 2009 after a 13-month battle. The Pablove Foundation was founded by Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill at the onset of their son’s diagnosis.
