VIDEO: TEARIST + JULIA HOLTER LIVE @ THE STANDARD DOWNTOWN
When producer Nicole Disson asked us who we thought would be good to perform at The Series, a monthly experimental performance night on the rooftop of The Standard, Downtown L.A., we said loudly, TEARIST! JULIA HOLTER! OTHER PEOPLE TOO, BUT WE HAVE VIDEO OF THESE GUYS. WHY AM I STILL SHOUTING?!
Tearist’s Yasmine Kittles appeared in the crowd like a victim just escaped from a serial killer’s dungeon. She jumped in the pool then joined her bandmate William Stangeland Menchaca in a little grassy enclosure and had flashbacks.
Julia Holter looked like a lady, sang pretty, and made people happy with this “Maria” song she imposed upon the mouth of some woman projected on the wall.
And here, the first part makes us hope she writes a musical one day. The second makes us think she should get together with Hecuba.
