Vetiver’s set started as a quiet one, filled with the kind of soft plucking usually drowned out by the crowd chatter. But the set, which was filled with beautiful, melodic songs from its entire catalog, eventually pushed through from gentle folk to all-out dance party, with that feeling of electricity seemingly being conducted by Andy Cabic’s strumming fingers and earnest voice. Cabic and his crew created such a clean, clear sound that it was next to impossible to tell the difference between the record and the live show, which is a compliment not only to the band’s sound but also to its ability to capture the deep, soulful feelings their songs illicit. After leaving them wanting more, Cabic returned to the stage solo for an encore, before being rejoined by the band for an incredible rendition of To Find Me Gone’s “Won’t Be Me.” It served as the perfect exclamation point to those that thought the band were going to be washed out by the bar noise.
