The El Rey, The Fonda and now The Drums have headlined The Hollywood Palladium. Jonathan Pierce has come a long way from the days of playing small venues like Spaceland and it’s about time. The Drums have had a loyal fan base and the music always lifts our spirits.

Fresh in the middle of a nationwide summer tour in support of latest album Brutalism, Pierce and his band filled the Hollywood haunt with excited, attentive fans. Pierce had the crowd in a devoted trance as he sang and moved about the stage, hypnotizing us with his signature dance moves. The group played a Brutalism-heavy set, including the singles “Body Chemistry” and “Body of Joy.”

Japanese quartet CHAI opened the show with a fun, energetic set with songs from their latest album Punk. They will soon be touring Australia with Mac DeMarco and Pond.
