STARCRAWLER + DEATH VALLEY GIRLS @ BROUWERIJ WEST

Saturday night, FREE, San Pedro, food trucks, community tables, cold ones, hanging with your dog. Brouwerij West presented Popfuji, a free concert series, showcasing four local bands.
Starcrawler is on fire right now with a new video, a major tour (they are currently on the road with Death Valley Girls, then the Distillers, then headline European dates and then are on the road with Beck/Cage the Elephant/Spoon. Vocalist Arrow de Wilde and lead guitarist Henri Cash were fully committed and all over the stage, but the entire band that includes bassist Tim Franco and drummer Austin Smith were so musically tight, you won’t be seeing them on that small of a stage in the near future.
Fans were smashed against the front of the stage and couldn’t get enough. Someone did steal the show at the end. Starcrawler fan Henry, who is seven year old, sat side stage where he was safe and at the end, Cash handed him his guitar and he played the last notes as best he could to loud applause.
Death Valley Girls preceded with vocalist/guitarist/keys Bonnie Bloomgarden bringing her nephew on stage and acknowledging the dogs in the building. But more importantly, the band played some brand new songs. DVG will be on tour with The Distillers in August.
It wouldn’t be a lineup without San Pedro’s own legend Mike Watt with the Jom and Terry show (shredder extraordinaire Tom Kidd Watson and slappin’ skins Jerry Trebotic) belting out “Sweet Honey Pie,” Blue Oyster Cult covers and many more. Bass.
Starting everything off while there was still daylight and the Dodger’s game was on, Slaughterhouse delivered some fast tunes and looking forward to catching them late in the evening.
