Switzerland’s Triptykon closed out Decibel’s Metal & Beer Fest at The Wiltern with a special all-Celtic Frost set. It’s a rare occurrence for Tom Fischer (aka Tom Warrior) to look back–but look back he did with an hour and forty minute set of pure heavy bliss featuring Triptykon performing songs spanning Extreme Metal pioneers Celtic Frost’s groundbreaking career.
Kicking things off with “Procreation (Of The Wicked)” from their debut album Morbid Tales, Triptykon wasted no time as they continued to pummel the crowd with classic after classic, including “Circle of Tyrants,” The Usurper,” “Into The Crypts of Rays,” “Morbid Tales,” “Dethroned Emperor” and “Necromantical Screams.” Other bands that performed included GODFLESH, Power Trip, Yob and Skeletal Remains. AND, if you were one of the lucky few to get there a little early, the one and only Tom Fischer made a brief appearance in the lobby to sign his book Only Death Is Real.
