LEON BRIDGES + KHURANGBIN @ THE GREEK THEATRE

Soul, R&B, and Motown-revivalist singer Leon Bridges performed to a sold out crowd at The Greek Theatre last evening. The smooth crooner is in the middle of a 29-date national fall tour in support of his sophomore full-length album Good Thing.
Playing with a bigger 7-piece band on this tour, the Texas native’s setlist heavily featured material from the latest release like “Bad Bad News,” “If It Feels Good (Then It Must Be),” “You Don’t Know” and “Beyond” as well as favorites from his breakout success Coming Home, like “Lisa Sawyer” and “Smooth Sailin.” The biggest surprise of the night occurred when Bridges welcomed John Mayer to the stage to sit-in on the bluesy ballad “Mrs.” and again for the encore on “Mississippi Kisses.”
Fellow Texan trio Khruangbin opened the night and got us warmed up with their signature blend of Thai funk grooves and surf soul.
