DANIEL NORGREN + PHIL COOK @ THE TERAGRAM BALLROOM
Photos and recap by Stephanie Port
Swedish singer-songwriter Daniel Norgren made a stop at the Teragram Ballroom. The folk crooner’s set, often reminiscent of rhythmic, elongated Neil Young-style Americana roots jams with the addition of catchy melodies and minimalistic guitar riffs, featured a setlist of tracks that span across his five official releases, the most recent of which is 2015’s The Green Stone. Some new songs were also played, which are soon to be recorded as Norgren and his band head into the studio after their tour concludes in August. Norgren was joined by his longtime companions Anders Grahn on upright bass and drummer Erik Berntsson.
Joining Norgren on this tour is prolific multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Phil Cook. The North Carolinian, who’s also a member of Hiss Golden Messenger, Megafaun, and The Shouting Matches, is currently touring in support of his second solo release, the soulful People Are My Drug. This was the first stop for the pair, who are working their way up the west coast to Pickathon this coming weekend and wrapping up in Seattle on August 8th.
