Valley Queen’s Natalie Carol expressed a strong sense of gratitude for her bandmates and the people involved with bringing their debut album Supergiant to fruition. “I also just want to thank my band so much because, like being in a band is — fucked up. It’s really fucked up. And it’s like, I mean I don’t have enough time up here to tell you the emotional journey that we had to go through to make this record, but we all fuck’n did it and we all showed up. And like I just can’t thank you guys enough for sticking by me and sticking by what we’re doing. I love you so much. I really really do.”

For those of us who attended the album release party at the Moroccan Lounge, the songs were well worth the wait. Carol sang passionately on tunes like “Chasing the Muse” as guitarist Shawn Morones delivered searing leads over catchy rhythms provided by bassist Neil Wogensen and drummer Mike DeLuccia. They wrapped up the set with the serene feeling “Highway Pearls.”

Local bands Gun Outfit and Albert & His Dreamboats warmed things up.
