LCD SOUNDSYSTEM @ HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM

“I’m literally here all week” stated LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy with his typical dry tone. “These are the jokes, folks…”
Playing the first of five sold out nights at the Hollywood Palladium, LCD Soundystem’s residency at the historic venue was packed for quite the seductive dance party.
“Oh Baby,” the title track from new album, American Dream, started off the set to the screams of eager fans. Glowing balloons bounced about as hands feverishly pumped into the air while strobe lights flickered on stage. The influential dance punk group rarely let the momentum slide, with songs smoothly transitioning into one other.
Plenty of hits were included on this first night: the perky “Tribulations,” the playful “Yr Ciy’s a Sucker,” and the anthemic “Someone Great” blended well with the band’s new, breezy hit, “Call the Police.”
The famed mirrorball on stage was finally coaxed from hiding near the end of the night with “Home” before finishing the main set with the solemn and ethereal “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down.”
