HUNNY is evolving and so are their fans. It was only back in June that the band was support for Bad Suns at The Fonda. Last night, the Southern California band headlined The Teragram Ballroom.

The quintet wasted no time with new material. Right out of the gate was “Gilding The Lily” from the band’s newest EP Windows I. They also played their unreleased song “Rebel Red” and reworkings of favorites “Natalie” and “July.”

What started as just one lonesome stage diver soon developed into an all out Niagra Falls of teenage girls probably taking their first dive into the not-so-welcoming arms of the fans below. At one point, a rather unlucky girl hopped up on stage just as the song ended, to which lead vocalist/guitarist Jason Yarger responded by urging the band to play some music for her to jump off to.

Later in the set, another diver graced the stage at the end of a song. The band suggested she trust the fall into the crowd and threatened to kick out anyone who didn’t catch her. One final dive was made by Yarger himself plunging into the crowd and then being catapulted back onto stage after the man on keys Kevin Grimmett screamed “Get me my bro back!” Once back on solid ground, Yarger lifted Grimmett on his shoulders and the band left the stage.

Hot Flash Heat Wave and Boyo played beforehand.
