Melvins-11 Photos by Stephanie Port

Smack dab in the middle of a massive 12-week North American tour, grunge icons Melvins rocked a sold out crowd at The Echo last evening. After being moved from The Echo to Echoplex (with Dead Cross added) and back to The Echo again (sans Dead Cross), fans with tickets to the original show were happy to see the band playing in the smaller, more intimate venue.

King Buzzo, Dale Crover, and Steven McDonald played a varied setlist featuring songs from their newest release A Walk with Love and Death like “Euthanasia,” “Sober-Delic,” and “Edgar the Elephant” plus a great, sludgy cover of The Beatles’ “I Wanna Hold Your Hand.”

Brooklyn-based metal duo Spotlights opened the show and joined Melvins on stage for their extended, noisy finale.
